Helping Children & Families Navigate Grief

reach for the stars

The Godspeed Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to supporting grieving children & families during the toughest journey of their lives.

We provide a unique space and setting for the mending process to begin.

Our program utilizes mindfulness, equine companions, nature, and somatic experiences to help navigate grief.

It is our mission to offer our services free of charge to families who have experienced the death of a child, sibling, parent or primary caregiver.

"Grief does not have to hold us back. Grief can open the door to purpose. In purpose we can find hope and healing."

Restore

Reconnect

Rebuild after loss

We offer a non-clinical, somatic-based, equine-assisted grief support program for children and families.

Sessions are led by founder Megan MacIntosh, a certified Grief Educator, certified trauma-informed yoga instructor, certified Equine Assisted Learning facilitator, certified somatic healing practicioner and most importantly, a fellow griever.

Megan is a bereaved mother whose 18-year-old son Chase died unexpectedly in 2021.

GRIEF IS A WHOLE BODY EXPERIENCE

The body can respond to loss and sadness in many ways.

When we become present to the physical experience through mindful movement & grounding experiences we can rely on the body to help move the energy of grief through.

The body is beautifully skilled at expressing different needs and feelings than the mind alone can name.

Equine Experience

A DEEPLY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE ON THE GROUND BETWEEN HORSE AND HUMAN.

Horses offer unconditional acceptance and

are gentle and intuitive creatures. They are natural peace makers who live in the present moment. Peace is an essential in life and something that can be missing during times of intense grief. The human-horse bond is uniquely special. Just being in the presence of these majestic animals gives one the opportunity to experience a profound feeling of peace, which is such a gift to those bereaved.

Our herd of 6 rescue horses have been specially trained to be of support to those in need.

They are also really good listeners and (they think) professional carrot eaters.

CULTIVATING COPING SKILLS FOR GRIEF AND BEYOND

Grief can set the stage for growth. By learning how to process our grief we discover healthy coping skills that are a lifelong gift to ourselves and those we are in relationship with.

Families can discover new connections that carry them forth on their journey.

The Experience

Individual Session

Grief is unique for everyone. During individual sessions you are given the time and space to honor your grief.

You will work toward discovering personal peace after loss.

Individual sessions can be held weekly, monthly or on an as needed basis.

Sessions for families who have lost a parent, sibling or caregiver are free of charge.

Family Session

When grief impacts the family structure a group session might be the right choice. Working together as a team, families will practice effective communication, problem solving and establish trust in order to achieve their goals with the horses. This can be powerful for families who are rebuilding after loss.

Sessions for families who have lost a parent, sibling or caregiver are free of charge.

Half Day Retreat

If you need more time a half day retreat is a perfect option. This option is also a good fit for extended family, corporate groups or adult grievers.

The day begins with gentle movement to de-stress the body and mind.  Then you will continue to process through art, sound or communication with the horses.   Lunch will be provided.

Pricing for retreats will be determined on an as needed basis.
