Meet our Founder

Hello, I’m Megan, the founder of The Godspeed Project.
I am a mother, a believer, and a doer.
I am also a certified trauma informed Yoga teacher, Sound Practitioner and meditation facilitator.
I have spent over 15 years dedicating my life to helping other on their wellness paths.
The Godspeed mission is deeply rooted in my own story of loss and transformation.
On January 23, 2021 my life changed forever when my son Chase died tragically. He was just 18.
Shorty after Chase's death I took my youngest child to Equine therapy to help her process the loss. That decision changed my life forever.
I had no prior knowledge of horses before this and the peace I felt working with them inspired me to educate myself on all aspects of the Horse and Horse - Human relationship.
In 2022 I decided to take a leap of faith and pursue building a non-profit that utilized the simplicity of mindfulness, the warmth of nature and the peacefulness from horses as a means to support grieving families.
My hope is to help educate families on the grieving process and arm them with tools that can help them integrate their loss into their lives.
My commitment is fueled by the hope and light that was brought into my life by the methods we now share with others.

Chase Michael Ellison

The Godspeed Project is named after Chase Ellison.
Chase was 18 when he died tragically in 2021.
He left behind 3 siblings; an older brother and 2 younger sisters. His youngest sister was just 7 when Chase died.

Chase also has an older step brother on his dad's side of the family.

Chase was incredibly smart. He was a deep thinker and an even deeper feeler. He was strong willed but had the softest heart. He was attentive and kind. He showed tenderness every chance he got toward his siblings, his many pets and friends.

He loved his 13 cousins and grandparents beyond measure & made every family gathering feel meaningful and in true Chase fashion.. FUN!

Chase loved music. He loved concerts and collecting vinyls. In 2017 he was gifted a guitar by his mom's friend and quickly taught himself to play. He went on to learn the mandolin, piano, bass and eukalale. He brightened many of our evening walks with his acoustic guitar, strumming hits from the 70's and beyond for the neighborhood to hear.

Another passion was Space. Chase was deeply inspired by the heavens. He dreamt of going to Mars and studied the sky and all it's wonders in depth.
He was an avid and talented astrophotographer who spent hours at his telescope trying to capture the clearest image of the moon he could. Many of his photographs are still up on his Astrophotography Instagram page and we love to look back at those posts and see his talent and enthusiasm.

In October of 2020 before his 18th birthday he asked if he could get a tattoo. The idea of GODSPEED tattooed on his forearm as a homage to both space and the journey of entering adulthood was tossed around but never realized. Sadly it never will be.

When Chase died all who knew him said GODSPEED Chase. It felt like the right sentiment for this incredible soul because it is empowering.
Chase's death has left those who love him in unchartered territory - a world without him.
We too need GODSPEED.
