Our Mission

Our mission at The Godspeed Project is to provide grieving children and families a much-needed respite from their sorrow.

We do this by offering a compassionate, non-clinical, equine-assisted grief support program designed to help process loss in a nurturing, healing environment.
Sessions are carefully facilitated by our founder Megan MacIntosh, a certified Grief Educator, certified trauma-informed yoga instructor, and certified Equine Assisted Learning facilitator.

But perhaps more important than credentials, Megan brings with her the deep understanding that can only come from personal experience. She is a bereaved mother. Her 18-year-old son Chase tragically died in 2021. Megan knows firsthand the crushing pain of losing a child and is deeply compassionate toward others experiencing grief.

The Godspeed Project is not just an organization, we are a community connected by the shared experience of loss and encouraged by the solace found in grieving mindfully.

We are honored to walk with you on this journey of hope, healing, and rediscovery.

Our Program

Mindful
Movement
GRIEF IS A WHOLE BODY EXPERIENCE

The body can respond to loss and sadness in many ways.
When we become present to the physical experience through mindful movement & grounding experiences we can help to move with the energy of pain, and grief.
Movement is accessible tool that can help us discover what might be on the other side of our loss - a place of grieving that is empowered, that is strong and alive.

Equine Experience

A DEEPLY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE ON THE GROUND BETWEEN HORSE AND HUMAN.

Horses are natural peace makers who live in the present moment. They offer unconditional acceptance and are gentle and intuitive creatures. The horses ability to stay calm in the present is something we can learn from.
Peace is something that can be missing during times of intense grief.
Interacting and communicating with these majestic animals while observing the natural herd dynamic gives one the opportunity to gain insight into their own behaviors, energy and focus.

Our herd of 5 rescue horses have been lovingly trained to be of support to those in need.
They are also really good listeners and (they think) professional carrot eaters.

Nature
FRESH AIR AND SUNSHINE ARE KEY COMPONENTS TO HEALING

Nestled on a quiet street in Cave Creek, Arizona the Godspeed property is a welcoming space where you can feel miles away from the stressors of daily life.

Whether you need a reflective moment in our memorial garden or want to bask in the warmth of the sun while walking with a horse, the outdoor space will allow you to harness nature's healing energy, leaving you feeling grounded and centered.

Discovery

CULTIVATING COPING SKILLS FOR GRIEF AND BEYOND

Grief can set the stage for growth. By learning how to witness and become an active participant in our grief we can cultivate healthy coping skills and build resilience.

Families impacted by loss can discover new connections and strengthen existing bonds.
Time spent in nature with the horses seems to always leave those who come with an authentic smile and a feeling of hope.

Grief Support

Individual Session

Grief is unique for everyone. During individual sessions you are given the time and space to honor your grief.
You will work toward discovering personal peace after loss.

Individual sessions can be held weekly, monthly or on an as needed basis.
Sessions for families who have lost a parent, sibling or caregiver are free of charge.
Family Session

When grief impacts the family structure, a group session might be the right choice. Working together as a team, families will practice effective communication, problem solving and establish trust in order to achieve their goals with the horses. This can be powerful for families who are rebuilding after loss.

If you need more time,
a half day retreat is a perfect option. This option is also a good fit for extended family, corporate groups or adult grievers.
